Get LightBurn job notifications on your phone
LightBurn doesn't tell you when a job is done unless you're looking at it. Beacon watches LightBurn for you and messages your phone when a job finishes, pauses or loses the laser — here's how to set it up with a free Telegram bot.
Updated November 4, 2026
What you'll be told
In Settings › Notifications, under Notify me when, you choose the events:
- A job finishes — with its run time.
- A job is paused.
- The laser disconnects mid-job.
- A job starts.
- A job runs too long or stays paused.
- The laser is free again.
- LightBurn can't be read.
- Maintenance is due.
Messages include the job's file name when Beacon can read it.
Set up a Telegram bot
Telegram is free and works on any phone. Your bot is private: it only talks to the chat you link it to.
- In Telegram, open a chat with @BotFather and send
/newbot. Pick a name and a username for your bot. - BotFather replies with a token (a long line of letters and numbers). Copy it.
- In Beacon, open Settings › Telegram bot and paste it into Bot token.
- Send your new bot any message in Telegram (for example "hi").
- Back in Beacon, press Find next to Chat ID. Beacon fills it in from your message.
- Press Send test. A message should arrive on your phone within a few seconds.
Keep the token private: anyone who has it can send messages as your bot.
Control Beacon from your phone
Turn on Telegram commands and you can ask the bot:
/status— what the laser is doing right now./today,/report,/week— run time and jobs./relays,/on fan,/off fan— see and switch relay buttons by name./mute 2,/unmute— quiet alerts for two hours, or until you unmute./photo— a webcam snapshot, if you've set up a camera.
Beacon only answers commands from your own chat.
Prefer something else?
- Discord, Pushover, email or SMS — under More channels in Settings, each with its own test button. Webcam snapshots can be attached when a job finishes.
- Desktop pop-ups — Windows or macOS notifications on the computer itself.
- Phone dashboard — a live status page any phone on your Wi-Fi can open, with your relay buttons and an optional PIN. No internet needed.
- Quiet hours — keep the phone silent at night; critical alerts such as a lost laser still get through.
